Post-Secondary Enrollment Options Program

The Post-Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) program at Kent State University Geauga is designed to provide qualified high school juniors and seniors with the opportunity to enhance their high school education with a true college experience. The PSEO program is not intended to replace course work available at the high school, but rather to enhance educational opportunities available to student while in high school.  This program is available at both the Geauga Campus and Twinsburg Center.  Parents and students considering PSEO course work should meet with their high school guidance office to learn about the program and to discover their school district’s policies as they relate to the following:

*       full-time equivalency with high school and college enrollment

*       repayment policies in the event of withdrawal

*       how Kent State University grades are accepted on the high school transcript

*          (weighted or not weighted)

*       scheduling for other high school classes

*       remaining graduation requirements and if college courses will fulfill those

*          requirements

Guidelines for Admission

3.00 cumulative high school grade point average

● Demonstrated mastery of introductory college preparatory core curriculum

● Ohio requires a “B” average or better in a similar high school course prior to

   enrolling in a college course in the same subject area

● Students must test out of developmental coursework on the COMPASS assessment 

   test.

 

Application Requirements

          ● Students must submit the application packet which includes the following:

PSEO Application for Admission

Counselor/Principal Recommendation Form

(2) Teacher Recommendation Forms

● Submit official high school transcript

 

PSEO Option A or Option B

            ● Option A – College credit only

Student is responsible for paying for tuition and books.

            ● Option B – High School and college credit         

                   Tuition and books are not paid by the student.    

 

Deadlines:    MAY 15 for fall semester

                   OCT. 31 for spring semester

                   April 15 for summer session
                   (only Option A is available)
