Tell me about Kent State University.
Kent State University is a network of eight campuses located throughout Northeast Ohio. Kent Campus enrolls over 24,000 students in bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs. The seven Regional Campuses enroll more than 11,000 students.
What is the advantage of the Kent State System?
Students at any Kent State campus have access to the resources of all eight campuses, including the Kent State University Library and the Career Services Center. The campuses share many common curricula; thus, in most cases, students may begin a program at any campus and relocate quite easily to another. Students can even attend classes at more than one campus at a time.
Tell me about Kent State Geauga.
We are a small campus, with over 900 students, making it easy for you to meet people and to interact with professors. Our student-teacher ratio is much like that of a private school at 13 to 1. Kent Statue Geauga is comprised of the Geauga Campus in Burton and the Twinsburg Center.
Who can attend Kent Geauga?
Kent Geauga has an "open admissions" policy for all Ohio residents who have graduated from an accredited high school or its equivalent. We also try to accommodate prospective students with unusual circumstances.
How do I know which classes to take?
Much of your success in college depends upon your proficiency in reading comprehension, writing, and mathematics. We want you to have every opportunity for success at Kent Geauga; therefore, all new students (including some transfer students) are required to complete the COMPASS test, a series of computerized skills assessment tests. Scores from these tests will help to determine the best courses for you at the beginning of your college career. The tests take about two hours to complete and are free of charge. Once you have been admitted, you simply need to schedule a testing time by calling the Admissions Office. These tests are for course placement only, and your scores are confidential.
How can I schedule classes?
Following your COMPASS testing, you will be able to discuss your scores and your academic plans with an adviser. You may schedule an appointment in the Student Services Office. In addition, advisers from the Kent State University visit Kent State Geauga once each semester for students enrolled in bachelor's degree programs.
How can I pay for school?
You are officially registered when admission is approved, you enroll in courses, and all fees are paid. Cash, money orders, personal checks, Master Card, Visa, and Discover Card are accepted methods of payment.
The Installment Payment Plan enables you to pay your tuition and fees over a three-month period. A service fee of $30.00 per semester is charged for using the installment plan.
The Kent First Plan payment plan provides fixed monthly payments, no increase in tuition and fees over the payment period, and no penalty for withdrawing from the plan. More information is available from the Financial Aid Office.
Financial aid award or denial letters should be submitted to the Kent Geauga Financial Aid Office as soon as you receive them. We can then apply the award to tuition or seek alternative sources of aid, if necessary. Students who receive financial aid need to maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (2.0 GPA and completion of 70% of the courses originally registered for) while attending classes at Kent Geauga in order to continue to receive financial assistance.
