COMPASS Assessment Information

All new freshman, regardless of age, and post-secondary applicants as well as some transfer students must take the COMPASS assessment test. The COMPASS test is designed to assess your readiness for college-level coursework in reading, writing and mathematics. The test is administered via computer and takes approximately 1 ½ to 3 hours to complete, although it is self-paced and not timed.

Once you have applied for admission, you will need and make an appointment for COMPASS testing by calling the Geauga Campus at 440-834-4187 or Twinsburg Center at 330-487-0574.

You do not need to bring anything with you for the test. Paper, pencil and an online calculator will be provided. You will not be permitted to use your own calculator! A proctor will provide instructions and will be available throughout the test should you have any questions. You will learn your scored when you meet with an academic advisor following your testing session. All students are permitted to retest one time in each of the three test areas.

Sample questions are available online at www.act.org by selecting assessments, then COMPASS.
