We are now offering live online classes using the award winning Collaboration Suite called Wimba! This suite of tools allows us to offer online live classes using a robust set of tools to create a virtual classroom.
The design and ease-of-use of this suite of tools ensures that faculty and students engage as if they were meeting face-to-face. Tools such as polling, white boarding, presenter-on-the-fly, resizable chat areas and participant lists, usage analytics tools, and MP3/MP4 downloads of archives sessions enable further dynamic interaction between students and faculty.
Students who would like to participate in these courses will be required to attend a brief orientation session. If you will be participating from home you will need a computer with 512 MB (1 GB or higher recommended) RAM, Internet access at 56k or above (broadband recommended), a soundcard with microphone and speakers (or a webcam). Wimba is compatible with Windows 7x, Vista, XP, Mac OSX 10.4-10.6. It is compatible with Internet Explorer 7.0-8.0 or Firefox 3.0-3.5. Java v.6+ (1.6) for XP/Vista/Win7 or Java v.5+ (1.5) with XP/Vista only. On the Mac platform Safari 3.0-4.0, and Firefox 3.0-3.5 are compatible. The Java version would be either 5.+ or 6.+.
