Know the procedures for borrowing the loan
Complete the FAFSA early
Watch for your Student Aid Report (you will get either a paper copy or email notification)
Review the Financial Aid Award Letter to determine if you need the full loan amount awarded to you. Follow the directions on the award letter if you choose to adjust or cancel the loan.
If you need to sign a promissory note for the Direct Loan, you may sign it electronically, using your Department of Education PIN.
Once you have completed your promissory note, the financial aid office will review your eligibility to determine if you have met all other requirements to receive the loan funds. After determining your eligibility to determine to receive the funds, the net amount will be applied to your student account in the Bursar's Office. The funds may cause a credit to your account. If this is the case, the Bursar's Office will send a refund check to you.
