Applicants for all 3 program options follow the same application procedures as outline below.

LPN to ADN Option
Licensed Practical Nurses who have graduated from an approved program and who hold the appropriate credentials to administer medications, including intravenous therapy, may be admitted to the second year of the ADN Program.

LPN applicants for advanced placement must complete the following requirements:

  • Apply to  www.geauga.kent.edu (which will include having all official high school, technical and college transcripts sent to the Geauga Campus).
  • Take the placement assessments and attend an ADN Information Session.
  • Complete the developmental coursework prescribed by the assessments.
  • Complete the following non-nursing coursework:
    • BSCI 20020 Biological Structure and Function
    • BSCI 20021 Basic Microbiology
    • CHEM 10054 General and Elementary Organic Chemistry
           or
           CHEM 10050 Fundamentals of Chemistry
           and
           CHEM 10052 Introduction to Organic Chemistry
    • NUTR 33512 Nutrition
    • PSYC 11762 General Psychology
    • US 10097
  • After admission to the program, enroll in NRST 10006, Transitions in Nursing Agency. This is completed in the summer semester.
  • After successfully completing NRST 10006, the student is awarded substitute credit for NRST 10001, NRST 10003 and NURS 20950.

Academic Support Services

  • Academic Tutoring is available in some subjects. If you need a tutor in a non-nursing course, please fill out a Request for a Tutor application. Individual nursing faculty have office hours designated for extra guidance.
  • Make Up Exams are available for nursing students. Always check your course syllabus for the policy on making up missed exams.
  • Students with disabilities requiring accommodations in class and/or clinicals need to register with the Office of Academic Support Services.
